An environmental dance in Swimming Pool

Premiered in September 2015/ Po Leung Kuk Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp (Hong Kong)

Duration: 60 minutes

S y n o p s i s

This work seeks to break through the constraints from stage for more possibilities on how dance performance can be, and how dancers and audience can interact. Inspired by the space, existing objects and other elements in a campsite swimming pool, Cyrus recreated the facility into a physically and mentally traumatic stage for this environmental dance work. Along with the performative elements, the unrestful actions, the discourteous monologues, the sensual shadow play, the harmonious dance in water, that the choreographer has delicately set forth, all shape the viewing experience into something which is never achievable on stage.

A project by DanceArt HK within Dialogue of Space Series.
