ABOUT CYRUS HUI
Cyrus has showcased his artistry and collaborated internationally in countries including Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and various cities in China (Guangzhou, Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu) as well as Taiwan. His recent choreographic highlights include Run (2023), Overlab - A Cross-disciplinary Conversation on Traditional and Contemporary Arts (2022), In-between Love (2018), WExplode (2016), Dance, for No Reason (2016), CroXXing (2015), Here it goes again (2014–2015, restaged and toured), The Last Zoo for the Hong Kong Arts Festival (2012), and Positioning (2010). His work Here it goes again earned a nomination for the 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards’ “Most Commendable Independent Dance Production”, Dance, for No Reason (co-created) was nominated for the 2017 “Outstanding Small Venue Dance Production.” The co-created Positioning won the 2011 “Outstanding Environmental Dance Award,” and Run secured the 2024 “Outstanding Small Venue Dance Production” at the Hong Kong Dance Awards.
As Artistic Director of Siu Lung Fung Dance Theater, Cyrus is committed to advancing Hong Kong’s dance scene. He also spearheads initiatives to foster collaboration among Asian choreographers, dancers, and interdisciplinary artists, creating opportunities for vibrant artistic exchange across the region.




Cyrus Hui Chun Kit, Artistic Director of Siu Lung Fung Dance Theater, centers his creative work on the dynamics of interpersonal politics, hidden power structures, and questions of identity. His choreography delves into overlooked aspects of contemporary society, inviting audiences to rethink entrenched social roles, functions, and relationships.
Born in Hong Kong, Cyrus graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) School of Dance and later pursued advanced studies at Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany, supported by scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. He is currently completing a Master’s in Theatre & Entertainment Arts at HKAPA, with a focus on spatial design. Known for his sharp, nuanced observations, Cyrus crafts works that critique societal distortions while radiating a deep empathy for humanity, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.
